Abstract
This article focuses on research from the University of Melbourne examining counselors' perspectives on supporting adolescents bereaved by suicide or other traumatic deaths. The study involved interviews with 34 counselors and identified three key themes in effective counseling: building therapeutic relationships, tailoring support to adolescents' needs, and providing strengths-based, sustainable assistance. Funded by Australian health organizations including the National Health & Medical Research Council, the research highlights the importance of counselors’ skills and developmental understanding in facilitating positive mental health outcomes for grieving adolescents. The findings aim to inform best practices in counseling this vulnerable population. [Extracted from the article]
