Abstract

This article focuses on a new study from the University of the Basque Country in San Sebastian, Spain, examining the role of affectivity in mental disorders from an enactive-phenomenological perspective. The research explores how different forms of affective experiences—such as existential feelings, moods, and emotions—contribute to sense-making and self-individuation, offering a reinterpretation and classification of disorders including schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety. It concludes that mental disorders can be understood as disorders of affectivity within this phenomenologically informed enactive framework. The study integrates philosophical approaches from Husserl and Simondon and has undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
