Abstract

This article focuses on a contemporary touring production of *Peter Pan*, originally a play by Sir J. M. Barrie, which has been adapted to promote inclusivity and address problematic elements of earlier versions. Directed by Lonny Price with additional book by Native playwright Larissa FastHorse, the production updates the setting to present-day United States and reimagines characters such as Wendy and Tiger Lily to foster equitable relationships and diverse representation, including casting a Black actor as Wendy and Indigenous actors portraying the Tribe. The production replaces stereotypical portrayals and songs with culturally respectful alternatives, emphasizing themes of kinship and reciprocity with the land. This adaptation aims to preserve the magic of *Peter Pan* while making it accessible and relevant to a broader, modern audience.
