Abstract

This article focuses on the legacy and scientific contributions of Howard Rachlin, a pioneering figure in behavioral economics, decision-making, and teleological behaviorism (TeB), which conceptualizes behavior as extended patterns aimed at goals. It highlights Rachlin's diverse work on self-control, delay and social discounting, and his novel integration of behavior and mind, as well as empirical and theoretical advances inspired by his research. The special issue commemorates Rachlin's influence through empirical studies, theoretical analyses, and perspectives that extend his ideas across psychology, economics, and philosophy, emphasizing his broad impact on both basic and applied behavioral science.
