Abstract
The article focuses on the legacy of Fred Hampton, a Black Panther leader active in the late 1960s, highlighting his role in uniting diverse activist groups through the Rainbow Coalition, which included the American Indian Movement (AIM), the Young Lords, Rising Up Angry, and the Young Patriots Organization. It recounts a 1969 rally in Chicago where Hampton spoke amid confrontations with Nazis, and later describes the FBI’s infiltration of the Panthers leading to Hampton’s assassination during a police raid orchestrated by Cook County State’s Attorney Ed Hanrahan. The text reflects on Hampton’s impact on revolutionary solidarity and the violent suppression faced by activists of that era.
