Abstract
This article examines the ethical and methodological challenges of communicating Indigenous craft practices through a collaborative project conducted in 2021–2022 with the Munduruku community of Bragança-Marituba, Pará, Brazil. The project, involving educators from the Royal College of Art, London, and Universidade de Brasília, resulted in a digital repository and virtual village library documenting Munduruku crafts and Indigenous Knowledge using mobile technologies like WhatsApp and Google Meet. Emphasizing community ownership, intercultural communication, and critical librarianship, the initiative foregrounded Indigenous protocols, storytelling, and participatory methods to decolonize design historiography and support cultural preservation. The project also addressed tensions between digital documentation and the materiality of craft, aiming to sustain cultural transmission and foster new ways of shared learning within and beyond the community.
