Abstract
The article profiles notable Black leaders and activists from the 19th and 20th centuries, highlighting their significant contributions to politics, civil rights, and social justice. Figures include Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and a presidential candidate; Frank Wills, the security guard whose actions exposed the Watergate scandal; Charlayne Hunter-Gault, a pioneering African American journalist and desegregation figure; and Hiram Rhodes Revels, the first Black U.S. Senator during Reconstruction.
