Abstract

Local authorities in Russia have ordered the evacuation of several districts in the city of Orsk, Orenburg, after a dam burst, leading to further flooding in the Urals mountains. Approximately 11,000 people reside in the affected areas. The dam burst occurred due to heavy rains, according to local officials and Russia's emergency services. A state of emergency has been declared in the Orenburg region, and over 2,000 individuals have already been evacuated from their homes. No injuries or deaths have been reported, and rescue efforts are underway with the assistance of around 530 people. Orsk, a city of around 200,000 people near the border with Kazakhstan, is situated along the Ural River and the Or River. The embankment dam was constructed approximately ten years ago.
