Abstract

The article discusses First Nations' accounts of the discovery of Australia by British explorer James Cook who sailed on board the vessel Endeavour. Topics discussed include the first sighting of the Endeavour on April 20, 1770 by Boondjil Noorrook, the encounter of Cook and his crew with the people of Kamay (Botany Bay) and the voyage of Endeavour to other places including Gooragang (Seventeen Seventy), Walamball Birri (Endeavour River) and Tuined/Thunadha (Possession Island).
