Abstract

Researchers used artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to predict the next pope by analyzing the ideological positions of high-ranking Catholic Church officials. The AI model initially predicted Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin as the next pope, but U.S. Cardinal Robert Prevost was ultimately elected. The study highlights the challenges of predicting papal elections due to the unique dynamics of the conclave process, which lacks traditional election data. The model's results could be improved by considering political and geographical factors in future predictions. [Extracted from the article]
