Abstract
This article explores the historical connection between knitting and ballet. Ballet originated during the Italian and French Renaissance and was brought to France by Catherine de Medici. As ballet evolved, costumes became more important, and dancers began knitting their own clothing and accessories for warmth and practicality. Knitting traditions were shared among dancers from different countries, and knitting remained popular in the ballet world until the rise of inexpensive fast fashion. The author, Alphonse Poulin, shares his personal experiences as a ballerino and knitter, highlighting the decline of knitting in the dance world. [Extracted from the article]
