Abstract

The article focuses on the value of analyzing medieval literature through a ludic lens, arguing that games and play provide important interpretive frameworks for understanding cultural meaning in literary texts. Topics include cultural game theory and its foundations in Johan Huizinga's ideas about play, the role of ludic criticism in interpreting medieval works such as "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and "The Canterbury Tales," and the broader scholarly tradition that views games.
