Abstract

Sales of traditional breakfast cereals in convenience stores grew by 4.6% in the year to March, reaching a total value of £66.6m. The overall market for breakfast cereals increased by 4.2% to almost £1.6bn, with own-label cereals experiencing a significant growth of 18.8% to £1.93m. Weetabix, the top-selling cereal, saw a 4.4% decrease in sales due to global wheat supply issues. Kellogg's Crunchy Nut remained in second place with a 5.1% increase in sales. In the cereal bars and morning snacks segment, Kellogg's Rice Krispies Bar took the top spot with a 47% increase in turnover to £106m. The impulse channel, which includes cereal bars and morning snacks, accounted for 9% of all sales in this category and showed exceptional growth. [Extracted from the article]
