Abstract

This article investigates the role of New Nollywood—the evolving Nigerian film industry—in shaping transcultural narratives and diasporic representation, particularly focusing on youth identity, migration, and hybridity. Using postcolonial theory and cultural studies, it analyzes how New Nollywood films like *Òlòtūré: The Journey* (2024) and *Postcards* (2024) portray complex African migration experiences, contrasting forced migration and exploitation with voluntary, creative transnational mobility. The study highlights New Nollywood’s hybrid aesthetic and global distribution strategies as mechanisms for resisting Western media hegemonies while fostering economic development and cultural diplomacy. Overall, the article positions New Nollywood as a dynamic cultural and economic force that redefines African identity and diaspora narratives within global media landscapes.
