Abstract

The article focuses on the critical role of logistics in the War of 1812 along the US-Canadian border, as examined in Christopher D. Dishman's book *Warfare and Logistics along the US-Canadian Border during the War of 1812*. It highlights how both British and American forces faced significant challenges in transporting personnel, supplies, and foodstuffs across difficult terrain and waterways, with British North America relying heavily on long supply lines from England and internal water routes. The study emphasizes the strategic importance of maintaining these logistical lines, particularly along the Upper St. Lawrence River, which served as a vital front line and supply route. Dishman's research draws on diverse sources to explore the impact of logistics on military campaigns and outcomes, showing that despite American advances, British logistical control contributed to the eventual stalemate and peace agreement at Ghent in 1815.
