Abstract

The document titled "INSTRUMENT OF GERMAN SURRENDER" was signed by Montgomery and five German officers, effectively ending fighting in the Netherlands, northern Germany, and Denmark. Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery met with a German delegation on May 3, 1945, demanding the unconditional surrender of all German forces his men faced, including those in Denmark, Heligoland, and the German islands.
