Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining the psychological effects of practicing Noh, a traditional Japanese theatrical art, on interoception among performers. The research involved 22 professional Noh performers, including actors and instrumentalists, and 18 male controls with no Noh experience. Findings indicated that Noh actors exhibited significantly higher interoceptive attention compared to controls, with their interoceptive accuracy positively correlating with years of experience. The study highlights the potential physical and psychological transformations associated with Noh practice, although it notes that the preprint has not yet undergone peer review.
