Abstract

This article explores the concept of energy independence in the United States, focusing on the oil embargo of 1973 and subsequent attempts by presidents to achieve energy independence. It argues that the pursuit of energy independence has been misguided, as it is based on flawed U.S. energy policies rather than external factors. The article also discusses the economic and political consequences of the oil embargo and the challenges of achieving true energy independence. It concludes by advocating for energy interdependence and the need to improve the resilience of the national energy infrastructure. [Extracted from the article]
