Abstract

Nia DaCosta, the writer-director of "The Marvels," discusses her experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and how it influenced her filmmaking style. She emphasizes the importance of making things feel real on set, even in VFX-heavy films, and the collaborative process of working with actors. DaCosta also mentions her freedom to add her personal quirks to the established MCU template, while still maintaining the general energy of the universe. She is now preparing for her next project, an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's "Hedda Gabler" called "Hedda," starring Tessa Thompson. [Extracted from the article]
