Abstract

Lincoln Electric System (LES) in Nebraska has implemented a microgrid project to enhance local disaster-recovery efforts in downtown Lincoln. Nebraska is the only 100% public power state in the US, with all electric utilities being customer-owned and run by Nebraskans. The microgrid project utilizes existing resources, including an anchor generation source and customer-owned generation, to strengthen grid resilience and provide service to critical infrastructure and facilities in the event of an emergency. LES has also issued a request for proposals for a battery storage system to further support the microgrid. [Extracted from the article]
