Abstract
The article focuses on Burkard Schliessmann’s three-disc album *Fantasies*, which offers an interpretative exploration of Robert Schumann’s piano works, emphasizing the composer’s mystical and phantasmagorical elements. Recorded at Berlin’s Teldex Studios using advanced techniques and a specially equipped Steinway piano, the set highlights Schumann’s late and lesser-known compositions alongside well-known pieces like *Kreisleriana* and *Fantasie*. Schliessmann approaches Schumann’s music with a deep understanding of its connection to the composer’s songs and psychological states, delivering performances that balance virtuosity with intimate expression. This release on Divine Art Records aims to present Schumann’s oeuvre as a cohesive, richly nuanced artistic journey.
