Abstract
This article focuses on a case report of a severe delayed skin reaction caused by the chlorhexidine-based antiseptic solution Irrisept following inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) surgery in a 61-year-old male patient. The patient developed full-thickness penile skin necrosis three weeks post-operation, attributed to the antiseptic used during surgery, including its injection under pressure into a drain. The skin necrosis was successfully treated with pinch skin autografting from the thighs, resulting in significant wound healing and good cosmetic outcomes. The report highlights the rarity but severity of such reactions and suggests that surgeons consider alternative antiseptic methods and multidisciplinary care for managing similar complications.
