Abstract

BBC Radio 3 has launched a new nightly weekday show called 'Round Midnight, hosted by saxophonist and broadcaster Soweto Kinch. The show aims to showcase the diversity and range of the jazz scene, both past and present. Kinch believes that jazz musicians often draw inspiration from the past while pushing boundaries and looking towards the future. The show also features interviews, live sessions, and guest curated segments, and plans to include live recordings from jazz festivals in the future. Kinch is excited about the current jazz scene and is looking forward to upcoming albums and events, including projects from Shabaka Hutchings, Braxton Cook, Immanuel Wilkins, Sultan Stevenson, Emma Rawicz, Fergus McCreadie, and Xhosa Cole. 'Round Midnight with Soweto Kinch airs weeknights from 11:30pm-12:30am and is available on BBC Sounds. [Extracted from the article]
