Abstract
The article focuses on a study investigating the relationship between personal and community resilience and exposure to terrorism in communal villages in Israel. Conducted by researchers from Tel Aviv University, the study utilized theories such as Antonovsky's Sense of Coherence (SOC) and Tedeschi and Calhoun's Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) to analyze resilience patterns among different religious and secular communities. Findings revealed significant differences in resilience based on the level of exposure to terrorism, with community coherence identified as the strongest predictor of resilience. The research emphasizes the importance of understanding resilience as a psychological construct influenced by both communal environments and individual experiences, with implications for enhancing adaptive functioning in communities facing ongoing threats.
