Abstract

The article focuses on recent diplomatic and security developments involving Somalia, Ethiopia, and other African nations. Turkey mediated talks between Somalia and Ethiopia in Ankara, reporting "notable progress" despite ongoing tensions, including Somali accusations against Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of territorial ambitions. Somalia opposes Ethiopian troop presence outside African Union mandates and has strengthened defense ties with Egypt amid regional disputes. Additionally, the article outlines various regional conflicts and border issues, including tensions between Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire, Sudan and Chad, incursions by South Sudanese forces into the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda's alleged military encroachments into South Sudan. These events reflect complex inter-state relations and security challenges across the Horn of Africa and neighboring regions.
