Abstract

The article focuses on a prospective, randomized study comparing the effects of sphenopalatine plexus block (SPGB) combined with general anesthesia (GA) versus GA alone on postoperative pain control in patients undergoing functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). The study found that patients receiving bilateral SPGB under GA exhibited more stable intraoperative vital signs, lower postoperative pain scores measured by the visual analog scale (VAS), and required fewer doses of rescue analgesia compared to those who received GA alone. These results suggest that adding SPGB to GA in FESS can improve intraoperative stability and provide effective postoperative analgesia for at least two hours after surgery.
