Abstract

The article presents findings from multiple clinical trials conducted at Ain Shams University Hospitals in 2023, focusing on anesthesia and critical care interventions. One study compared quadratus lumborum block and erector spinae block for postoperative analgesia in laparoscopic cholecystectomy, finding no significant differences in pain scores, analgesic consumption, mobilization time, or side effects. Another trial evaluated total parenteral nutrition (TPN) versus enteral nutrition (EN) in mechanically ventilated septic patients, reporting similar clinical outcomes but more digestive complications with early EN. A third study demonstrated that adding dexamethasone to bupivacaine in ultrasound-guided adductor canal block significantly prolonged postoperative analgesia and reduced opioid use after knee arthroscopy. These studies contribute to understanding pain management and nutritional support strategies in surgical and critical care settings.
