Abstract

The article focuses on the Mariana Trench, the deepest known point on Earth, highlighting its discovery, exploration, and the unique marine life found there. Located in the western Pacific Ocean, the trench was formed by tectonic plate subduction and was first measured in 1875 by the HMS Challenger expedition. Human visits began in 1960, with subsequent explorations revealing new species such as the Mariana snailfish and Dumbo octopus, as well as unusual phenomena like the "biotwang" sound later identified as a Bryde's whale. Despite advances, much of the trench and Earth's oceans remain unexplored, leaving many scientific mysteries about deep-sea environments and creatures.
