Abstract

The article discusses the collection of 102 royal charters held in the Dublin City Archives. These charters were issued by English monarchs and granted various rights and privileges to the lord mayor and citizens of Dublin, such as property rights and the ability to levy tolls. The charters range in date from 1171 to 1727 and show changes in language and design over time. The charters are currently held in the Dublin City Library and Archive and can be viewed by appointment. [Extracted from the article]
