Abstract
Amazon.com Inc. successfully launched its first batch of production satellites into low-Earth orbit, marking a significant milestone in its plan to provide internet connectivity from space. The 27 satellites were launched on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and are operating as expected in orbit. Amazon's goal is to establish a 3,236-satellite constellation to offer internet services to consumers, businesses, and government entities, challenging SpaceX's dominance in the market. The company has invested over $10 billion in this initiative and previously tested two satellite prototypes in 2023. [Extracted from the article]
