Abstract

The article explores how Russia's failure to protect Armenians during recent conflicts with Azerbaijan has shattered long-held beliefs about Russian guardianship in Armenian political consciousness. Topics include the historical roots of Armenia's Russian protectorate myth, the geopolitical consequences of Russia's inaction in Nagorno-Karabakh; and how imperial legacies continue shaping contemporary regional conflicts.
