Abstract
This article highlights notable artworks featured in upcoming London auctions, including Francis Bacon’s 1972 self-portrait painted during a period of personal grief, which comes from billionaire Joe Lewis’s collection. René Magritte’s Surrealist painting "Les grâces naturelles," depicting his “leaf-bird” motif, will appear at auction for the first time in 25 years. Osman Hamdi Bey’s 1891 painting "At the Mosque Door," reflecting Ottoman life from a Western-educated Turkish artist, is offered from the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Museum collection. Additionally, Vilhelm Hammershøi’s 1900 Danish interior scene, part of his renowned Strandgade series, is included from the collection of former U.S. ambassador John L.
