Abstract
The article explores the historical interpretations of te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty in New Zealand, focusing on the work of historian Ruth Ross. Ross challenged the sacred status of the Treaty, arguing it was hastily drawn up and ambiguous. Her views influenced Māori activism and led to the establishment of the Waitangi Tribunal. The article also discusses the diverse interpretations of the Treaty by various historians and the importance of sharing multiple perspectives in understanding history. [Extracted from the article]
