Abstract
The article discusses the recent decipherment of the Dhofari script, an ancient writing found on rock faces in Oman and Yemen, which has puzzled researchers for over a century. Linguist Ahmad Al-Jallad claims to have deciphered the main subtype of this script, revealing that it represents an ancient pre-Islamic language indigenous to South Arabia, rather than Arabic. The study suggests that the script's glyphs are more closely related to ancient North Arabian scripts, indicating a historical connection between writing systems in the region. The findings also provide insights into archaeological sites like Sumhuram, enhancing the understanding of the cultural and linguistic history of Arabia. [Extracted from the article]
