Abstract
The article "END OF THE PIRATES" from the History of War journal discusses the efforts of European superpowers to end the Barbary pirates' reign in the 19th century. Following British and French interventions, the slave trade in the region was drastically reduced, leading to the eventual cessation of pirate activities. The conquest of Algiers in 1830 marked the end of the Barbary pirates' long history, although it also resulted in significant consequences, including the 'pacification of Algeria' and the eventual independence of the country in 1962.
