Abstract

A study conducted by the University of Haifa examined how ego integrity and despair, reported six months before the Israel-Hamas war, affected the psychological reactions of older adult Israeli Yom Kippur War veterans. The research found that a higher level of despair increased the risk of developing PTSD and depression symptoms during and after the war. The study highlights the importance of considering late-life developmental processes when examining the outcomes of traumatic events among older adult veterans. [Extracted from the article]
