Abstract

A new report from researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University explores the development of non-affective psychotic syndromes in the 19th century, specifically focusing on the work of Henri Legrand du Saulle and his 1871 monograph "Le Delire Des Persecutions." Legrand du Saulle's monograph provided extensive descriptions of cases with persecutory delusions, including auditory hallucinations and Schneiderian delusions. The research suggests that many of the cases described by Legrand du Saulle align with the non-affective delusional syndromes of paranoia and paranoid dementia praecox articulated by Kraepelin. The study highlights the clinical richness of Legrand du Saulle's work and its significance in the French literature of the time. [Extracted from the article]
