Abstract
This article discusses a children's book called "Gorgon Girl" by Tom Holland, which tells the story of a Spartan princess named Gorgo and the looming threat of war between Greece and Persia in the fifth century BC. The book focuses on Sparta rather than Athens and explores the Spartan system of education and the great battles of the Graeco-Persian Wars. The story incorporates supernatural elements, with gods frequently intervening in human affairs and characters with divine blood being able to shape-shift. The article praises the book as an ideal introduction to the Graeco-Persian wars for children and recommends it for school, college, and public libraries. [Extracted from the article]
