Abstract

The article explores the concept of the swing pulse in drumming and how it brings music to life. Topics include the interplay of even (binary) and odd (triplet) rhythms to create groove; the historical and practical roots of swing in drumming; and connecting rhythm to natural patterns to enhance musical expression and feel.
