Abstract
The article reviews recent opera recordings and audiovisual productions, focusing on interpretations of works by Verdi, Strauss, Mozart, and Schubert. It critiques Sofia Coppola’s 2017 film production of Verdi’s *La traviata* as visually attractive but lacking dramatic insight, while praising the vocal performances of Francesca Dotto and others. Julie Fuchs’s album of Mozart soprano arias is highlighted for its stylistic vigor, precise German diction, and imaginative orchestral support. The audiovisual production of Strauss’s *Ariadne auf Naxos*, directed by Matthias Hartmann, is noted for its 1920s setting and strong performances, especially by Krassimira Stoyanova. Anne Sophie von Otter’s portrayal in a *Winterreise* production based on Schubert’s music is described as dignified and textually attentive, though the overall staging is seen as intellectually engaging but emotionally distant.
