Abstract
Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan has laid the foundation stone for the construction of the country's first fishing harbor in Kilwa Masoko. The harbor, being built by the China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd, will have the capacity to store 90 tonnes of frozen fish per day and will be managed by the Tanzania Ports Authority. In addition, 160 modern fishing boats will be provided to artisanal fishermen, with the aim of increasing the fisheries contribution to Tanzania's economic growth from 1.8% to 10% by 2036. The project is seen as a key component of Tanzania's blue economy agenda. [Extracted from the article]
