Abstract

The article discusses the treatment of animals in the U.S. compared to Spain, highlighting the better conditions for animals in Spain due to legal protections. It points out the inhumane treatment of egg-laying hens and mother pigs in the U.S., as well as the cruel methods used to kill chickens and turkeys during disease outbreaks. The author suggests that the U.S. lags behind in animal welfare due to political and cultural factors, but notes that Americans have supported laws to improve conditions for farmed animals in some states.
