Abstract

"Know Their Names: the Queensland Government's Aboriginal workers and the system that exploited them" by Lesley Synge is a compassionate exploration of the history of Aboriginal workers at the Rewan Police Horse Breeding Station in Central Queensland. The book sheds light on the contributions of Aboriginal workers in the horse-breeding industry and their omission from Australian history. Through biographical sketches and historical research, Synge aims to dismantle the 'Great Australian Silence' and honor the names and stories of these often forgotten individuals. The work is a significant addition to the understanding of Australia's shared history and the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices. [Extracted from the article]
