Abstract

This time, its dramatic tale is told by British astronaut Tim Peake in his book Space: The human story, from which these images sire taken. White and astronauts Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffe were set to crew the Apollo 1 mission (a predecessor of Apollo 11 that was meant to launch into orbit around Earth in February 1967). It is about the rollercoaster experience and the "absurd normality of what we try and make out our job to be - it's ordinary people doing extraordinaiy jobs", says Peake, currently an ambassador for the European Space Agency.
