Abstract
A study conducted by McMaster University in Canada explores the relationship between nutrition/food and mental health among Arab immigrants/refugees in Ontario. The study found that diet quality can impact mental health, and this relationship is particularly important for immigrants/refugees who often face food insecurity and mental health challenges. The research used a collaborative approach and various methods to examine the experiences of sixty Arab immigrant/refugee participants. The study revealed that participants faced barriers to nutritious eating, including concerns about food quality and safety, and experienced a high prevalence of food insecurity, which was associated with negative mental health. The findings highlight the complex relationship between food/nutrition and mental health among Arab immigrants/refugees and the need for intersectoral collaboration to address these issues.
