Abstract

The article focuses on initiatives within an NHS acute trust to support intergenerational knowledge transfer among nurses, addressing concerns that critical thinking and decision-making skills of experienced nurses risk being lost as they retire. It describes the development of the "Walk and Talk" shadowing program and a series of university-accredited modules designed to enable senior nurses to share their expertise with junior colleagues and allied health professionals. The author reflects on the importance of intentionally creating structured opportunities for knowledge sharing to sustain nursing practice and highlights the ongoing success and sustainability of these educational programs. The work underscores that professional legacy in nursing is built through deliberate mentorship and collaborative learning rather than individual ownership. [Extracted from the article]
