Abstract
This article focuses on a novel joint offloading strategy for Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) systems that integrates a back propagation neural network (BP-NN) with a genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize multi-user intensive task scheduling. The proposed method aims to minimize long-term average response delay while jointly reducing energy consumption and total system overhead cost under practical constraints such as limited edge storage and network conditions. Simulation results demonstrate that this BP-NN-GA strategy outperforms five existing offloading approaches by achieving lower average response delays and total costs, especially as edge storage capacity increases. The study highlights the importance of balancing delay and energy consumption to improve quality of experience for end users and efficiency for application service providers in MEC environments.
