Abstract

Social Internet of Things (SIoT) has the ability to create object-to-object interconnections (sensors, transceivers, actuators, etc.), which is a relatively difficult process in traditional Internet of Things(IoT). It widens the practical usability of IoT by exploiting the interconnections between heterogeneous objects. With the expansion in multiple domains, the threat to privacy goes hand in hand. Source location privacy is a critical concern in recent times. Data transmission through wireless channels leads attackers to continuously eavesdrop and backtrack to discover the source node. Source location discovery by attackers can cost the asset's life and is highly undesirable. To address the need for source location privacy preservation (SLP), this paper presents two novel grid-based schemes i.e. Vertical Random Greedy (VRG) and Randomized Interference Horizontal Routing (RIHR). VRG makes use of vertical walk followed by randomized routing, and greedy approach to route the event packets to the base station successfully. RIHR makes use of interference ring routing followed by a horizontal walk, and then the equidistant phase finally followed by greedy routing. The simulated results prove that in comparison to Phantom Routing based L-Path Random Walk (PRLPRW), the safety period improves by 4.7% and 17%, and the network lifetime is enhanced by 86% and 81.78% for VRG and RIHR, respectively.
