Abstract
This article focuses on the implementation of an electronic project management (EPM) software system by the investigational drug services (IDS) pharmacy at University of Utah Health to improve the management of clinical trial study protocols. The EPM software standardized and streamlined tasks across the study lifecycle, enhancing project oversight, process consistency, documentation, reporting, accountability, and intrateam communication. Adoption of the software led to improved workflow efficiency, increased collaboration among pharmacy staff, and approximately $18,000 in additional fee capture within the first year. While initial development and training required significant effort, the system provided a sustainable solution to managing the complexity of IDS pharmacy activities supporting clinical research.
