The article discusses the decolonization of language revitalization efforts on Tuscarora Nation Territory, focusing on the Tuscarora language, which lacks elder speakers. The author, a linguist and language activist, emphasizes the importance of Indigenous conceptualizations of relationships, responsibilities, and reciprocities. The article highlights the challenges and successes of the Tuscarora Language Program in preserving and revitalizing the language, emphasizing the need for strong relationships, trust-building, and accountability within the community.
